Shnider for Council Campaign Continues to Outraise Incumbent in District 3 Council Race

Shnider’s District 3 campaign continues to gain momentum, closing in on $200,000 raised while continuing pledge to forgo contributions from corporations and corporate PACs

Rockville, MD - Progressive Democrat Ben Shnider, candidate for Montgomery County Council in District 3, reported that his campaign raised $42,051 since January and nearly $200,000 total ($195,136). The campaign has reported over 600 total donors and two-thirds of the campaign’s contributions totaled $100 or less. With $54,470 cash-on-hand for the final month, the campaign is well positioned to reach the voters necessary to win in the closing weeks.

Shnider -- who has been endorsed by the county’s teachers, SEIU, Sierra Club and 15 other activist groups -- continues to honor his pledge not to accept any contributions from corporate entities or corporate PACs in pursuing his grassroots bid. He is the only candidate in the District 3 race to have never accepted such contributions.

“We started this campaign over a year ago to bring more progressive and proactive leadership to District 3,” said Shnider. “Since then, we’ve seen a groundswell of grassroots enthusiasm from supporters who are hungry for change. I’m energized by the momentum we’ve gained and ready to work harder than ever in this final month.”
